For the past two summers, I had the incredible opportunity to be a Respiratory Therapist in Camp Simcha. Camp Simcha is a sleepaway camp for children with cancer, chronic illness, and physical disabilities.
Camp gives these children hope and happiness in a world full of medical appointments, surgeries, hospital stays, etc. We provide fun and exciting experiences in a safe and loving environment. From the medical staff, to the counselors, to the waitresses, to the lifeguards, to the ropes course staff, each person plays an important role to make camp so extraordinary. And it is totally FREE for the campers!
I had the greatest privilege to help children with various respiratory needs. From rockin’ activities to emergency medical crises, we conquered it all. We took children with trachs and ventilators into the pool, down ziplines, and on helicopters. Respiratory treatments/therapies turned into nighttime parties with dancing, balloon-making, and more! I am honored to be part of this amazing infirmary team.
This January, I will be running in the Miami Half-Marathon with my fellow medical staff on Team Infirmary as part of Team Lifeline. Every dollar I raise and every mile I run will benefit Chai Lifeline, an international children’s health support network that provides critical year-round programs and services to nearly 6,000 families confronting pediatric illness.
While running all those miles will be challenging, I am excited to push myself and stretch myself as I attempt to emulate the courageous families of Chai Lifeline.
My goal is to raise $5,000, but I need your help. Every donation is 100% tax deductible. Please join me in supporting this important organization by contributing to my personal runner page.
In addition, all our funds will be as a zechus refuah sheleima for איתמר צבי בן דבורה אסתר, a dear friend of Team Infirmary.
