This January, I will be running in the Miami Marathon/Half-Marathon as part of Team Lifeline to benefit children with cancer, disabilities, and other serious medical conditions. Every dollar I raise and every mile I run will benefit Chai Lifeline, an international children’s health support network that provides critical year-round programs and services to nearly 6,000 families confronting pediatric illness.

Chai Lifeline is an incredible organization that does so much for children and families stricken by illness. This organization has impacted my life on a personal level. When I was 12 years old, I became a big brother for the second time to the cutest and strongest girl I know. She was very sick for many years and Chai Lifeline was there for me and my family every step of the way. Whether it was getting me out of my house to go for ice cream with a friend, taking me to Bulls games, making sure I had Chanukah presents, making Chanukah or Purim parties to celebrate the holidays, and of course, the annual day at Six Flags Great America. Chai Lifeline doesn’t miss any detail when it comes to helping families. They arranged for high schoolers to come over and help me with my homework, nightly. They always had families making dinner for us, as my parents were usually unable to be home in the evenings, because they spent most of their time in hospital with my sister. I support and run for Chai Lifeline because I believe there are so many like me who need their help and support. I want to make sure others can benefit from this incredible organization just like I did.

While running all those miles will be challenging, I am excited to help raise awareness and funds for such an important and worthy cause.
