Wow, ride day is right around the corner. I have to say I am feeling a bit proud of my accomplishments so far. I have raised / gotten pledges of over $$4600 (just $400 shy of goal). Lost 25 lbs. And have gone from not being able to bike 5 miles to biking 100 miles this past Sunday (not as hilly as Lake Tahoe will be). Looking forward to Conquering the hills of Tahoe. Thanks for all your support. Mendy

Day of breaking milestones!!!

March 22nd, 2012 by Mendy

Wow, what a ride, I started off by challenging myself. When  Iwent for my first ride a year ago I lost an uphill battle and couldnt make it to the top. Which has come to signify my fight to reach the top. NBack in December I made it to the top after stopping a couple of times. Today  I did it without unclipping (for the uninitiated that means without removing my feet from the pedals)!!! I then rode down the other side and back up which was another hill I struggled to conquer in the past! I then rode home and around the corner from my house is a steep hill (twigwood for you locals) and rode up it without stopping! It took me 3minutes and 35 seconds to ride from the beginning to end of twigwood. Originally I told myself I would do it 3 times, however I told myself I would reward myself if I got to the top the second time in less time then the first  Wouldn’t do it a third. I beat my time by 30 second!! almost 14% less time then the first!

To add to the reward  I got home and my son told me something wat too hard to do and I told him “Yoey, nothing in life is too hard, if you want to, you can accomplish anything” I told him that I thought twigwood was too hard, but I said to myself  I can do it, and I did it twice.

Chats all for my ramblings for tonight. Thanks for reading, and as always, please share this post with your friends, and please sponsor me.

Thanks,

Mendy

My week in review

February 13th, 2012 by Mendy

Hi everyone, Its been a pretty busy week but heres what I accomplished since my last post. I got on my bike 4 times, including a 2& 1/2 hour ride yesterday. Did over 80 miles in total. I also started making phone calls to raise money to reach my goal of 5000 and I have reached $1500 in pledges. (pledges don’t show up on the official site till the money is actually received). It is now time for me to go do an hour of hard riding, cant wait till the weather warms up so that I can do my training outside as it sure get boring doing it inside in front of the TV. See you all next time,
Mendy

My first post & Superbowl Sunday

February 2nd, 2012 by Mendy

Hi Everyone & welcome to my  blog. For those of you who dont know me my name is Mendy Lipszyc. Over the summer I have decided to train to bike a century (100 mile) bike ride for 2 reasons. 1) I promised my wife  when we got married that when I hit 30 I would get into shape, boy did 30 come faster then expected. 2) Diabetes runs in my family ad I WILL NOT GET DIABETES! Once I made this decision it was a very simple choice to do it as part of Team lifeline.  After all its a win - win. I get in shape,& I raise money for Chai Lifeline, an organization that helps children with Cancer.

I invite you to follow my training and fundraising progress on this blog which I will update regularly. And on to todays training…

Originally I said to myself: Great, Superbowl Sunday, Come home from work, relax in front of the TV with beer, nachos & watch the game. But I knew I have to take this training seriously. So instead I got on my bike right before kickoff (set up on a trainer in the TV room, although really its the exercise room that we moved the TV into so that I can stay motivated to train). And rode for 2 hours (28 miles) using commercials as time to kick into high gear. And sitting atop my bike I enjoyed watching the Giants beat the Pats, Sipping on cold water.

Tomorrow is  what  I call Armstrong training day. See you all then, And as always, please consider a donation, as well as share my page with your friends & family.

Thanks,

Mendy
